Appeal a Moderation Action
If your account has been restricted, suspended, or your content was removed and you believe the action was taken in error, you can submit an appeal.
How to Submit an Appeal
- Open Smara (if your account is restricted but not suspended) or visit the Smara support page.
- Go to Profile > Account Status to view the details of the action taken.
- Tap Appeal This Action.
- Provide a clear explanation of why you believe the action was incorrect. Include any relevant context.
- Submit the appeal.
If your account is fully suspended and you cannot sign in, submit a support request from your registered email address with the subject line "Moderation Appeal."
What to Include
- Your registered email address
- A description of the action taken (restriction, suspension, content removal)
- The reason you believe the action was incorrect
- Any supporting context or screenshots
Review Process
- Appeals are reviewed by Smara's trust and safety team.
- You will receive a response within 5-7 business days.
- The review is conducted by a different team member than the one who took the original action.
- The appeal decision is final.
Important Notes
- Submitting an appeal does not pause or lift the current restriction during the review period.
- Repeated violations after an appeal is resolved may result in stronger enforcement actions.
- Abusive or threatening language in appeal submissions may result in the appeal being denied.
