Event Visibility and Access

When creating an event in a Sangam, you can control who can see and attend it.

Public Events

  • Visible to all Smara users, even those not in your Sangam.
  • Appear in the global event listings and search results.
  • Any Smara user can RSVP and attend.
  • Ideal for festivals, temple celebrations, and open community gatherings.

Private Events

  • Visible only to members of the Sangam where the event is created.
  • Do not appear in global search or event listings.
  • Only Sangam members can RSVP.
  • Ideal for small group prayers, family ceremonies, or study sessions.

How Visibility Is Determined

The event visibility setting is separate from the Sangam visibility:

| Sangam Type | Event Visibility Options | |-------------|------------------------| | Public Sangam | Public or Private events | | Private Sangam | Private events only |

Events in a private Sangam are always private, since the group itself is hidden from non-members.

Changing Event Visibility

The event creator or a Sangam admin can change an event's visibility by editing the event before it takes place. Changing a public event to private will not remove existing RSVPs.
