How to Create a Sangam

A Sangam is a spiritual community group in Smara where devotees can connect, share, and organize events together.

Steps to Create a Sangam

1. Open Smara and navigate to the Sangam tab.
2. Tap the Create Sangam button.
3. Enter a name for your Sangam. Choose something meaningful and descriptive.
4. Add a description explaining the purpose and focus of the group.
5. Choose the visibility — Public (anyone can find and join) or Private (join by invitation only). See Public vs Private Sangam for details.
6. Optionally, set a cover image that represents your community.
7. Tap Create to finalize.

After Creating

• You are automatically assigned the Admin role for your Sangam.
• Invite members by sharing the Sangam link or searching for users within the app.
• Set up community guidelines and assign moderators as your group grows. See Sangam Roles and Permissions.

Guidelines

All Sangam groups must follow Smara's Community Guidelines. Sangam names and descriptions must be respectful and appropriate for a devotional context.
